8-6-2013 Farewell to Homer

We came, we saw, we did what we wanted to and now it’s time to depart. After picking up the Halibut that was process (62 lbs) and making arrangements for shipping, we packed up and headed back up to Cooper Landing. We had arrangements for Wednesday morning with the same guide to go back out on the Kenai for some Rainbow Trout and Salmon fishing. Don wanted his son, Bobby, to try his hand at fishing the Kenai.

After settling in at the Russian River State Park we headed out to get our fishing license. We picked up some tackle and headed back to try our hand at trout fishing on the Russian River. We got a few tips from the shop where we bought the tackle.

We didn’t have all of the right gear but we made do with what we had. It was quite challenging but we made it work. I caught 2 small Rainbows and had a lot of fun.

When we returned to the RV’s we cooked some of the Halibut we had caught the day before. It was very tasty.
