7-14-2013 The Kids want to stay longer

Elizabeth and Jonathan are amazed at the sites they have seen since arriving. They love the natural undisturbed beauty that is around every corner. It has been a laid back atmosphere, and the weather has been spectacular.

Sunday we went back into the park and stopped by the visitor’s center. There they have a complete lay out of the park that gives you a greater appreciation for the immensity of the park and a better perspective of the mountain range that it encompasses. They also have displayed of all of the animals that frequent the park as well as displays of the early pioneers the help established.

There is a movie that takes your breath away showing the different seasons and how the parks beauty takes on many different phases. Emorie sat through very quietly, and you could tell she was very interested is all the animals, flowers and scenery on the big screen .

From there we took the kids to an overlook that shows the park , train station and the roads and the layout of the park. There are also some crazy signs that they have placed along the road going up the hill.

In the morning we will depart south for Talkeetna. This is a small village along the Susitna River, about 40 miles from the base of Mt McKinley, where the climbers gather their gear and fly up for their assent to the peak.

Elizabeth and Jonathan have decided to extend their stay for a few more days, which will give them more time for exploring and enjoy all that Alaska has to offer.

We are not complaining, that gives Nana and Grandpa more time with Emorie. We are really enjoying our time with her and amazed how she has grown up since we departed on this trip.

She may not remember her journey to Alaska but we certainly will, and we have pictures to prove it.

She is a good traveler and likes watching all the scenery passing by as we travel down the highway. She never complains and has been sleeping in the RV with us. The kids have stayed in the local motels and enjoy their own little vacation.

We trust that all is well in your world and that your summer is filled with as much excitement as ours. More to come!!!
