Oh the fun memories!!!

Next to Last -- Being Aware on the Road

Wanted to share with you how we needed to be aware all the time, watching the signs as to what was ahead.

There are many kinds of horses: stylized, crossing, or with riders.

And then the animals get a little more unusual for us.

You can tell this is Canada, signs in English and French.

We had to learn that the angle and size of the horns was our clue for which animals to be looking!

We have seen deer before.

But big horn sheep aren't around Dallas much.

I love this!!  This is a "for real" sign.

Fire danger was always something to be aware of also.

Can you sing the song? "Smokey the Bear, Smokey the Bear, prowlin' and a growlin' and a sniffin' the air.  He can find a fire before it starts to flame.  That's why they call him Smokey and that's how he got his name!"
If you can't read French, you can be in trouble.

Some are a little more informal.

Some are helpful to us non-metric folks.  I really did make myself a cheat sheet so I could tell my driver the speed limits.

We have some of these at home, but look at the pictures.  Showers and electricity are two of the more unusual.   If you're off the grid, these are important services to locate.

Once I figured out the red circle and green circle, these did make  lot of sense.

Road hazards are important to pay attention to, also!!

This is a grated bridge.

We had to pay attention to these with the motorhome!!!

this road goes from paved to gravel

I'm still not sure what this was.  And, I was there!!!

This was in Barrow.
In Fairbanks

Near Fairbanks

also in Barrow

Love the way the Royal Canadian Mounted Police get you to slow down!!

We said they were big~!!

Many of our friends thoughts that we were Nut's
to take off on this adventure, even our kid's, but we did it anyway!
